When purchasing insurance it doesn't hurt to
phone around 5-10 different insurance companies. They will all have
different prices, so just pick the cheapest.
A lot of people don't make claims on a lot of
things they could. Claiming on house and contents insurance does not
usually affect your premiums. So whenever there is something to
claim above the value of your excess it makes sense to make that
claim.
